- Fiona: I didn't need your help.
- Steve: Yeah, looks like you did. You're upset that I actually did help. You're afraid that if I show up and actually keep on helping, that you'll like it. And liking it will lead to relying on it. And by relying on it, you'll be less of the you that you've made yourself into. That kickass you that you like, and that I like too, but you're afraid that if you learn to rely on me that one day when you really need me to show up, I won't. And then you'll be angry at yourself for believing in something you've only seen in the movies, something I'm determined to prove to you actually exists.
When my dad and I used to run, he would tell me the true measure of a great athlete wasn’t necessarily how fast a person could run, anyone can go all out…it’s how quickly someone can get their heartrate back to a normal beat.
I think this is a wonderful analogy of moving past old relationships.
We can all give our everything and wind up with a tired heart, but some people choose to wimp around, whine and sit out the next few laps while others choose to calm their hearts and get it beating back to the way it was before, just a little stronger now, and keep on running.
Thank you so much! Glad you like it. :)

Only because I love you so so much <3
